Te Araroa Walkers — Bike Hire and Bag Transfer
Here in the Mackenzie Region, we’re fortunate to have not only the Alps 2 Ocean Cycle Trail, but also the Te Araroa Trail, in our backyard.
The Te Araroa Trail follows hydro canal roadways for many kilometres with beautiful scenery but a long straightforward walk. If you want to save time without missing a section of the TA journey, Lakeland Explorer offers a range of services, from bike hire and bag transfers to pick up/drop off transport.

“We have just completed the A2O (Alps to Ocean) bike ride so needed a shuttle service to take us to the beginning of the ride, take our bags each day to our next accommodation and then take us back from Oamaru to Twizel where we left our vehicle. We booked with Jill from Lakeland Explorer. Right from the start she was fantastic, answered all emails promptly leaving us with a clear idea of what each step entailed. When taking us to the beginning of the track and taking us back to Twizel she gave us a commentary of the area – she obviously knows the area well. She has a wealth of knowledge with the organisation for anyone wanting to do the A2O. I advise anyone who wants to know the best way for them to do this bike ride to approach Jill, her knowledge will be of great assistance. We highly recommend Lakeland Explorer.”
